This is the back of Franny Choi‘s head. She is participating
in an Exquisite Corpse as part of the first annual Pink Door
Women’s Writing Summit for Poetry and Good Ideas, hosted
by the incomparable Rachel McKibbens. If you want to try
your own Exquisite Corpse, look here. If you want to be
blown away by some of the ladies I had the honor of breathing
near this weekend, look here. Or here. Or here.

Chicago, IL.
Remember when I thought I had come the closest to hip I’d ever be?
I was wrong. Today I get to say this sentence: I just got back from
an after party for NeoCon which was held at a Chicago Design Firm,
next to the guerrilla art show that featured individual galleries
in the back of trucks. (Thanks, J.)
Tributaries: Delta
Delta’s Interpretation
Ever since the folks at TED titled my talk “If I Should Have a Daughter,” people always assume that is also the title of the poem I begin the talk with. That poem is actually called “B” but the mistake doesn’t bother me too much. It’s like playing “telephone” when I was a kid. Words get jumbled around when they get passed from one person to the next down the line. Although it seems as though Delta Airlines was apparently towards the end of the line.

That guy reflected in the unicorn is J, one of my oldest friends.
I’m in Chicago to visit him, and since it’s my very first time here,
he’s taking me to all the hotspots, touristy and un-touristy.
Including the Bean.

Performing at the legendary Green Mill Tavern in Chicago, IL!
It was not surprising that Marc Kelly Smith was an incredible host. It was not surprising that the Green Mill feels like the coziest speakeasy in the country. It was not surprising that Chicago is warm and windy and full of magic. It was surprising that Sarah’s once-upon-a-time-mentor and always-friend Taylor Mali was in town at the same time as she was, and that they did a double feature together! This is the best kind of poetry sandwich.
