You’re never too old for Campus Dance. Or a post-dance
pizza fest in someone’s undergrad dorm, apparently.
Oh college, you’re just as lovely as I remembered.

This fancy hat is what the President of Grinnell College
gets to wear at commencement. Nobody else gets to wear
such a stylin’ chapeau. However, if you get an Honorary
Doctorate of Humane Letters, you do get to wear a
velvet sash/hood over your cap and gown. So. That’s
pretty sweet. And by “pretty sweet” I mean “an unbelievably
exciting moment in my life and huge freaking honor.”

I haven’t been to the Metropolitan Opera since
I was a little kid. My grandmother used to take
me once every two years or so. I remember most
the red velvet walls that I would run my hands
over as I walked up the stairs, and the beautiful
starry chandeliers that rose into the ceiling
before the show began. Both were just as dreamy today.
